Okonomi-yaki?

So my Japanese friends who live in Paris recommended that I go to this great Japanese restaurant in Paris, Aki, by the Opera metro where it seems they serve "Osaka soul food". http://www.cityvox.fr/restaurants_paris/aki_200059476/Profil-Lieu

When you think of Japanese immediately raw fish comes to mind, rice dishes and yakatori. Yet, this place is the real deal. They specialize in Okonomi-yaki which is from Osaka or Hiroshima and is a thick Japanese crepe with vegetables and seafood. The name literally means "what you want... cooked" which is hilarious and looks to be the Japanese version of late night pizza without the ooey gooey and oh so bad for you cheese and dough. Instead the batter is made of flour, grated yam, water, eggs and shredded cabbage and topped with ramen, veggies and seafood. Kind of sounds like a complete meal, right?

Looks pretty adventurous but I definitley have an inkling that it is going to be delicious. I'm dying to try it!! If you're looking for an authentic Japanese meal stop by here!!

My sister also eats at another great Japanese restaurant called Yen in the 6th by the Eglise Saint Germaine Des Pres. It is real deal traditional Japanese, has really great dishes and is super fresh and different. The menu is a bit expensive but it is very tranquil inside and the roasted eggplant with miso and shrimp is pretty freaking yummy if I might say so myself. Also great is the cold ramen with dipping sauce and any of the fish dishes. If you feel like splurging the menu comes with a variety of courses and I'm sure will blow you away.
